   Tropical rain forest When there is rain and sunshine plants grow faster and form  into dense forest . These forest are known as tropical rain forests. These rain forest  become the habitat for birds and animals.Tall trees  become homes for bird as there is food and shelter .

 Sports Heroes  Sri Lanka boasts of two olympic winners so far Duncan White was the first Sri Lanka to win a medal at the olympics . He won a silver medal in 400 metre hurdles event in olympics in London  in 1948. Susanthika Jayasinghe won a bronze medal in the women's 200 metres sprint event in the olympic games held in sydney , Australia in 2000.Both these athletes have brought fame to Sri Lanka A sporting  event wich put Sri Lanka on the world map is cricket . Captain by Arjuna Ranathunga , Sri Lanka won the cricket world cup in 1996 and proved that its team is a world  class team that can offer  a strong  challenge to any team in the world . The 1996 World cup performance  was so spectacular  that Sri Lanka and cricket came to be considered inseparable.

 Friendship  A friendship is a bond between two living beings.Friendships are formed irrespective of  age, status, caste , creed  and gender . A child ,a teenager , a young man or even an old man can find a  friend according to his feelings and wishes. True friends share feelings such as happiness , sadness and affection .Friends should be trustworthy and loyal to each other. Caring  and sharing  make a friendship healthy and it uplifts the lives of friends and it will give colour to life.

The Great sphinx of Egypt  The great  sphinx in Egypt is a colossal statue. It represents a lion with a human head  * stands 350  meters from cheop's  pyramid . * 73 metres long. * Known in Arabic as "father of terror ". * Originally called Horus who is on the horizon . * Some believe it is king  standing guard over his tomb. * for centuries -completely covered by sand leaving only its enigmatic features uncovered .  

Autumn Reasons  Autumn is the season between summer and winter .The weather gets a little  cooler. The sun is not quite as high in the sky as it was in summer.The Northern half of the earth , has autumn weather during late september , october and November . The Southern Hemisphere has autumn from march until early june .Autumn is called 'the fall' in some countries as it is the period  of falling leaves . Autumn is the season when many crops are harvested .  As the season ends , lakes and streams begin to freeze . The migration of birds begins .pre- winter  snow-storms become active

 MARTIN WICKRAMASINGHE MUSEUM  Martin Wickramasinghe , the greatest Sri Lanka writer of last century , was born in Koggala in 1890. The house in wich he was born has been renovated and forms a part of the museum . The late author's personal belongings and original furniture have been well preserved and carefully arranged in the rooms. The visitor gets the impression that the author has just stepped out for a stroll along the Koggala beach. In the gallery Martin wickramasinghe's life and times are presented through photographs , paintings, sketches, souvenirs  and awards  he had received . Copies of published works and hand written manuscripts are also found here . All these help to creat an image of the man and the writer and by -gone times.  

 Garbage  Disposal  Garbage disposal has become a huge problem foe urban dwellers as well as for urban authorities. Our homes, hotel, restaurants , markets, offices, factories  etc.  Put out tons of rubbish. The authorities have to find dumping sites for the garbage . Then protest  come from the people who live around.  No one likes to live next door to a garbage dump. The authorities have to find new sites. The rotting  garbage has to be transported once again  and dumped on the new sites.As the garbage compactors are sighted the public start their protests and demonstrations. Sometimes the drivers, labourers and officials are attacked.As a result garbage is not collected .people throw their rubbish on road sides. Crows, stray cows and dogs throng to these places looking for good . They tear the bags and scatter the rubbish on the roads. The once beautiful environment becomes an eyesore .

 Cleopatra  Cleopatra the empress of Egypt is considered one of the most beautiful women  who ever lived .she was not only beautiful , she was intelligent too.the former rulers of Rome, Caesar and Marj Antony were in love with her The people in Rome were curious about Cleopatra .They wanted to know, Why their beloved rulers fell in love with this foreign woman. Enorbabus, who had seen cleopatra sailing in her barge on the Nile described her. The poetry of Enorbabus  makes cleopatra even more beautiful in the minds of people

 Queen victoria  The British came to sri lanka during the reign of Queen Victoria .As a result ,our country is also influenced by Victorian values. During the Victorian period, Wich takes its name from Queen Victoria ,fiction ,poetry , drama, music  and other forms of literature flourished in England . The influence of Victorian values was left in our country too. . Alexander  Victoria ,born on 24th of May 1818, became the Queen of  England in 1832 , and ruled the country till her death. She died on the 22nd of JJanuary 1909

 Mahathma gandi                                                Mahathma Gandhi is considered as the Father of the Nation by the Indians. He was an inspiring philosopher and a leader who led a simple life. Gandhi was actually born into an affluent family and had a very privileged upbringing. Gandhi accumulated little, ate the amount he needed to eat, dressed simply and led simple stress free life. He was a man who believed in being non-possessive and didn't even own a house. When Gandhi died, he had lessof spectacles, a pair of sandals and his eating bowl. Although some considered him to have died a pauper, he influenced today his way of life continues to inspire many others around the world. Thalpe Beach   Thalpe beach is a beach situated in the southern province of sri lanka , close to the city of galle . It is a popular destination among both locals and foreigners . Wawrukannala  temple  15 miles east of Matara is the town of Dikwella, where there is one of the most amazing Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. The Wewurukannala Vihara temple is dominated by an image of a seated Buddha. It is 160ft high, the largest statue in all of Sri Lanka and dates back to the time of King Rajadhi (1782 – 1798). The temple has three parts, the oldest being about 250 years old; however this is of no particular interest. The next part has life size models of demons and sinners shown in graphic detail. If you don’t follow the path to enlightenment this is what happens to you. Punishments include being drowned in boiling cauldrons, sawn in half, disemboweled and so on. Finally there is the enormous seated Buddha that is as high as an eight-storied building.   The temple museum is a must see place if you visit there.
